Description:

The Citation Sovereign is Cessna’s version of what a business jet should be: comfortable, high-performing, and economical.  The strongest feature of the Sovereign is its range: it has coast-to-coast capabilities, like large jets, but still retains the features that make midsize private jets so advantageous.  It can take off in under 4000 feet, a feat still unmatched by other midsized jets, and can cruise at around .75 Mach (458 knots).

Cabin

Cover as much territory as the Citation Sovereign does, and you’ll soon come to realize that cabin comfort is an absolute necessity. As you speed across time zones and continents, the freedom to stand up, walk around, stretch out and relax is essential to keeping your mind sharp and your energy high. Not to worry. This spacious 620-cubic-foot interior is significantly larger than others in its class.

With a closet large enough to hold full-sized garment bags.  The bathroom, too, is spacious – passengers can change their clothes in it with the assurance of complete privacy (due to the double sliding hard doors).  A non-fluorescent lighting system was installed to increase passenger comfort and cut down on production costs.  The cabin and cockpit can be cooled before starting the engines by using APU.

Flight deck

Fulfilling the long-range missions that the Sovereign is capable of requires a flight deck that delivers proven global avionics performance. Which is why Cessna engineers equipped it with the Honeywell Epic™ avionics suite. This supremely capable system integrates some of the most advanced navigation and flight control capabilities ever offered in this category of business jet, including electronic charts and approach plate capability.

The system’s centerpiece is a quartet of 8 x 10-inch (.20 x .25 m) LCD displays. For optimum situational awareness, two Primary Flight Displays (PFDs) depict aircraft attitude, altitude, airspeed, vertical speed and heading references at the pilot’s and copilot’s stations. These PFDs flank two centrally mounted displays – one serving as a Multi-Function Display (MFD), and the other as an Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System (EICAS) panel. Radio tuning is also presented on the MFD displays, and is controlled by cursor control devices located in the center pedestal or through either FMS. Reversionary switching from either PFD to the central displays provides backup redundancy

Engines

Two dual channel FADEC controlled Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306C turbofan engines are installed on the Sovereign. The engine is a 4.4:1 high-bypass ratio, twin spool design with damage resistant wide chord fan. Four axial and one centrifugal compressor stages lead to high efficiency, low emission, through-flow combustor and five turbine stages. Maximum static takeoff thrust at sea level is flat rated to 5,770 pounds (25.66 kN) up to 87°F (ISA+15.5°C).
